Description
Module 4:
Oxygenation, Ventilation, & Acid Base HomeostasisAuthor: Tamatha M. Huneycutt, DNP APRN NNP-BC VLBW-BC
Learning Objectives:
- List the phases of fetal lung development.
- Summarize major events of each stage.
- Identify errors in fetal lung development.
- Describe fetal lung fluid and fetal vascularization.
- Identify the three fetal shunts in fetal circulation.
- Describe the components of surfactant and when production starts.
- Identify major events which occur right after birth.
- Discuss the steps resulting in closer of three major shunts in fetal circulation.
- Identify and discuss techniques used to interpret oxygenation in a neonate.
- Discuss pathologies which result in changes in oxygenation in a neonate.
- Identify and describe methods of oxygenation and ventilation used in the neonatal population including indications and complications.
- Describe Acid base homeostasis by identifying respiratory acidosis/alkalosis and metabolic acidosis
- Discuss acid base abnormalities and compensating mechanisms.
- Discuss the purpose of interpreting blood gases and identifying acidosis and alkalosis in a neonate compensated versus uncompensated
CE Information:
Please add the CE language. I will get you the final numbers once we know how long each module is. I don’t want to assume they are all 60 minutes, so I’m waiting for CW to provided me with this information.
